The Multigenerational Beach House Trip

A shared beach house works because it doesn't ask anyone to perform. There's no itinerary to keep up with, just a shared living space with private rooms so everyone has somewhere to retreat when they need to.

That low structure is what makes the good moments happen on their own: a spontaneous board game after dinner, coffee on the deck before anyone else is up, a conversation at the table that runs long because nobody has somewhere else to be.

A few things make this format work well for a real mix of generations and ages:

  • Enough private space that nobody is sharing a room with people they don't live with

  • A kitchen and common area big enough for the whole group to actually gather, not just pass through

  • Proximity to the beach or water that doesn't require a car for the youngest and oldest travelers

This isn't a trip that needs to be filled with activities to be worth taking. The point is the space itself, and the time in it.
